After singing “Sweet Love” on Idol tonight here were the judges thoughts:

Randy-”there were some pluses and minuses in this performance for me– at least you sang in tune, but there was no vibe, no swag on it”

Ellen-”Well Tim, I hear there’s a drinking game going on at home for everytime I call you adorable so i’m gonna go ahead and call you adorable right now cause they may never drink again!”

Kara-”Tim, Tim, Tim..it was like broadway at times, like vegas at times, and you took the soul out of the song”

Simon-”I don’t think it makes any difference what so ever what we say– It doesn’t matter what we say cause you’re gonna smile, the audience is gonna vote for you and we’re done”

Tonight on Idol Tim sang Under My Thumb to add to Rolling Stones night. Here was the overall feeling from the judges:

Randy-felt that he just didn’t get it, it was just weird for him

Ellen- started by booing herself first and then said she felt like she was at a resort drinking a pina colda. She got it and there was nothing wrong with it but it just didn’t wow her.

Kara totally got what they were saying but on the other side she had to commend him for doing something totally different with the song.

Simon applauded him for doing something different as well. Having said that, it didn’t work. It just doesn’t work doing that song in that version.

Performing third tonight and also being the third guy to use his guitar Tim came out singing “Hallelujah” by Jeff Buckley here were the judges comments:

Randy–One of the greatest songs ever and we’ve had some good times on this show with that song and you did a pretty good job with it!

Ellen– was nervous he was singing this song tonight, felt that she’d been hard on him alot and then left her seat to go on stage to hug him while telling him it was fantastic!!

Kara thought he was gonna go home a few weeks ago and now, he just might be in it! It was an honest take on the song and it was great.

Simon- “I feel responsible for you doing well tonight, after what I said– I gave you a confidence boost and you needed it” He felt this week was very smart with that song and it was a terrific performance by Alex and by far the strongest one he has given so far!
